Office Relocation Timeline

for most small-to-medium sized projects

12 months - establish the move's in-house management team, and
- retain an architectural firm who will analysis of amount and type of space that you need
11 months - retain a Real Estate Broker,
- have your architect prepare conceptual space plans for the alternate locations,
- select and secure the initial commitment for the new location
10 months - review offices systems, phone, communication,
- prepare an inventory of existing furniture to be used
9 months - sign the new lease
- request that your architect develop the conceptual space plan
8 months - architect to develop the approved design
7 months - architect to complete the construction drawings, finish selections and furniture selections
- select a general contractor and apply for the building permit
6 months - select furniture dealership and order new furniture
4 months - start construction
- select a moving company,
- coordinate stationary, phone changes
1 month - coordinate the move's final details ,
moving day - start move on Friday,
- start work in new space on Monday,
- start the moving team's vacation - they will have earned it!
